Sponsoring Girls' Educations

Since 1998, BEADS for Education has been sponsoring girls' education in Kenya, empowering over 500 bright young women who are either currently enrolled in school or have successfully graduated from the program. Sponsorship begins in the 4th grade and continues all the way through college, providing a comprehensive pathway to success.

The girls are carefully identified by community volunteers and then enrolled in the sponsorship program. Most come from marginalized backgrounds or communities that traditionally do not prioritize girls' education. At school, they receive high-quality education and nurturing support to help them thrive. In addition, each girl is paired with a dedicated mentor through our mentorship program. Mentors offer personalized career guidance and address other advisory needs to help mentees navigate their journeys confidently.

At BEADS Tembea Academy, the girls engage with an enhanced curriculum designed to foster critical thinking and creativity. Our Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) program sharpens their innovative skills, equipping them to solve local and global challenges. The high school also features a vibrant book club program that reinforces a strong reading culture among the girls.

Where We Work

Our projects take place in three regions within Kenya. In each region, BEADS provides school sponsorships, business development opportunities, and programs to improve the quality of education and women's rights.
